Egi Women’s 'Bloom Together': A Record-Breaking Celebration of Women
Egi Women’s highly anticipated ‘Bloom Together’ event has once again proven to be one of the most inspiring Women’s Day events in the Caribbean, uniting women across generations, industries, and countries for an unforgettable weekend of empowerment, learning, and connection. Marking its fifth anniversary, Egi Women has reinforced its reputation as a movement that drives transformation and tangible impact in the lives of women.
Held from March 7-9, 2025, at the Wyndham Grand Barbados, Sam Lord’s Castle Resort, this year’s event attracted over 600 women, making it Egi’s largest Women’s Day Weekend event to date. Women from Barbados, across the Caribbean, and beyond gathered to experience engaging discussions, insightful masterclasses, delightful entertainment and an electrifying sense of sisterhood. The steady year-on-year growth in attendees and corporate partnerships signals strong momentum for future initiatives focused on empowering women.
“This weekend was overwhelmingly satisfying and a clear demonstration of partnership in action. Through our corporate sponsors, volunteer teams, professional partners and our relationship with the International Women’s Forum in Barbados, we were able to deliver our most ambitious year yet,” said Founder Gina Cummins. “Each year, Egi Women continues to expand its impact, and this year was no exception. The energy, the connections, and the powerful moments we witnessed at Bloom Together show that women are extremely interested in being a part of spaces where they can flourish personally and professionally.”
The impact of Bloom Together was felt deeply by attendees, with many already committing to making it an annual tradition. One first-time attendee shared, "I am here reflecting on what a fantastic weekend I had. My friend and I have decided that this will now be an annual event for us. We have another girlfriend who lives in Jamaica that we are hoping can join us next year. It was absolutely amazing." Another young attendee expressed, “I no longer fear these rooms. I feel like I belong. I have more belief and confidence…I’m no longer intimidated.”
For the first time, Bloom Together introduced masterclass sessions—an addition that proved to be an overwhelming success. The demand for these sessions showed a clear interest in deeper personal and professional development opportunities, with many attendees asking for more time dedicated to these intimate, hands-on learning experiences.
To mark Egi Women’s fifth anniversary, Founder Gina Cummins launched the ‘Bloom Scholarship’—an annual award designed to support a woman in the community in finding her edge and igniting the world. At Bloom: A Morning of Music, Inspiration, and Celebration, Cummins announced the inaugural winner, Zaria Griffith, a 25-year-old young woman who joined the community at 19-years-old with big dreams and a passion to make her mark on the world. This scholarship will be tailored to each recipient’s area of focus and financial assistance needs, furthering Egi’s commitment to creating opportunities for women to thrive.
Partnerships Driving Purpose & Impact
The success of Bloom Together would not have been possible without the growing network of corporate partners who recognize the importance of investing in women. Sagicor, Courtesy Garage Ltd., Central Bank of Barbados, Export Barbados, Design District, Diamonds International, Blueprint Creative, Wyndham Grand Barbados, Mayers Media, Better Health Magazine, Intermixz, and Vibrant Boutiques led the charge in supporting this transformative initiative. Contributing sponsors included the National Conservation Commission, Native Caribbean Ltd., Boss Ladies United, Mount Gay Rum, and Massy/Waitrose.
A key highlight of this year’s partnerships was the ‘Sponsor A Woman’ Drive, in collaboration with Barbados Youth Entrepreneurship Scheme (YES) and other community-led organisations. This initiative allowed women who might not have otherwise been able to attend the event to experience its benefits firsthand. Claire Inniss, Youth Enterprise Officer at YES shared, "On behalf of YES, I want to say thank you for sponsoring our entrepreneur. She thoroughly enjoyed and shared with me that she made a connection and has been granted an opportunity to showcase her products. It was a win for her all around! Thanks again."
Expanding Horizons: Egi Women’s Growing Global Reach
Bloom Together marked the start of exciting new frontiers for Egi Women, forging connections not just across the Caribbean, but also with South Africa and Bermuda. This year's Women's Day Weekend event allowed a bridge to be built between Barbados, South Africa and Bermuda to build sisterhood and forge partnerships in a powerful way. Egi Founder Gina Cummins looks forward to further expanding the Egi community to other Caribbean islands and around the world.
