Rise Together Event Wraps Up with Resounding Success: Hundreds of Women Empowered, Inspired, and Connected
“Gave me goosebumps!” Those were words used by one of the hundreds of women who attended the 2024 Egi Women’s Day Weekend events at O2 Beach Club & Spa and Mahogany Ridge in Barbados. The three days of events ran from March 8th to March 10th to coincide with, and celebrate, International Women’s Day. The theme of the highly anticipated weekend, “Rise Together”, lived up to its name, helping its attendees to quite literally rise together through a series of insightful workshops, captivating conversations, spiritual upliftment, fashion, food, music and other spectacular interactive sessions.
Rise Together featured a slate of highly-recognized local, regional and international female speakers, professionals and facilitators, including British Fashion Psychologist, Shakaila Forbes-Bell; Designer and Business Owner of Sewperior Sewing Studio, Shannon Ashley; Group CFO of Goddard Enterprises Ltd., C. Natasha Small; Lender Relations and Marketing Manager at Carilend, Jade Worme; Principal of Apex Dental Services Ltd., Dr. Franka Alleyne; Fashion Designer, Author & Entrepreneur, Sonia Noel; Founder of Jabez House, Shamelle Rice; and Host of Spillin’ Positiva-tea, Maria Boyce-Taylor.
From the very onset of the three-day celebration, it was clear that the organizers wanted the event to be of a caliber that had never been experienced before in Barbados. Interspersed between the educational sessions, attendees were treated to several interactive sessions, giveaways, prizes and other unexpected treats.
The weekend kicked off on the morning of Friday, March 08 with Dress For The Life You Want in an atmosphere of warmth and celebration, as attendees were greeted with roses and mimosas upon entry to the O2 Beach Club & Spa. The three-course breakfast, courtesy of Oro Restaurant, set the stage for a day of knowledge, inspiration and connection. On Saturday, as the weekend continued, attendees were treated to a Women and Wealth Masterclass led by an all-female team of financial professionals designed to help attendees understand the intricacies of wealth building. On Sunday, attendees gathered for Rise Together: A Celebration, which featured musical wealth for the soul in the form of an uplifting musical celebration led by Trenacia Esseboom, Lynelle Caines and band, as well as Nicole Gibbs who gave a heartfelt presentation in spoken word and song. The morning’s event also featured a powerful devotion, a session of self-reflection and growth, and an inspiring keynote session which challenged those in attendance to take bold action in pursuit of their purpose. The weekend capped off with the afternoon segment Vibrant: A Chic Dining Experience, featuring a captivating Girl Talk Panel Discussion hosted by Gaynelle Marshall, touching on themes of purpose, work, wealth, and wellness.
Founder and Chief Experience Officer of Egi, Gina Cummins said that she was pleased with the outcome of the weekend of events, particularly the measurable growth in attendees over the years, the quality of the content delivered by the speakers, and the impact that the event had on the lives of the ladies in attendance. Commenting on the purpose of Egi, Cummins said that the organization’s purpose is to build community and powerful partnerships so that women can have access to the resources they need for their growth and overall well-being. She added that this year’s event left attendees feeling inspired and ready to make great forward leaps in their personal and professional lives.

With Rise Together's overwhelming success, Egi Women is exploring opportunities to repeat the event, particularly the highly acclaimed Women and Wealth Masterclass, later in the year to meet the demand from attendees eager to continue their journey of financial empowerment and inspiration.
